Information as A Reanimation of Ourselves

Avatars, profiles, posting walls...these all represent information created to display ourselves as a creative individual. The question is, however do these pieces of information determine our interactions with others or do we control the interactions ourselves by placing these created representations/barriers on purpose? Does the creation of the information we distribute to others create an unreal perception, or merely an extension of the human ability to recognize intelligence when it sees it?

Well I think the information we put out there about ourselves definitely inform the way others interact with us and their perceptions of us, particularly in strictly virtual interactions. I also think that it is possible to a have a totaly different virtual personality than the one we have in our everyday "real" life, though the real vs virtual line is very much blurred for some.

That information is a textual, and sometimes visual, avatar that can serve as our introduction to strangers who may end up becoming good friends. You can't really control how another person reacts to that textual/visual avatar, but with actual interaction, it may be possible to expand or recreate the initial perception.

The avatars, images and online representations are information about the people we are, or the people we want others to see. There is a whole world of possibilities with photos, images, avatars, videos, and other digital mediums to inform in the online environment.

Although it is easier to stretch the truth online, I hope most people are honest and are trying to reach out to others. The online world does open up a great deal of opportunities to have friends all around the world. I had two ladies from Hong Kong stay with me last year, and we are able to continue our friendship via the internet.
